We are in that time when summer sunshine begins to diminish and autumn's chill creeps in. We not only feel it in the evening, but we see it as the leaves turn colors--and start to turn loose. That is life--one season ends and another begins. Change is firmly fixed by the immutable God's unchanging decree. Consider this:
“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease.” (Gen. 8:22 NKJV)
So, life is full of changes--and that includes the Haywood Baptist Association. There has been a change in office personnel. We say farewell to a couple of folks who have been a blessing to us: Kayla Mashburn, Administrative Assistant, and Roarke Mabe, Media Director. We congratulate Kayla on the birth of her baby girl and commend her for choosing motherhood as her vocation. Roarke has taken on a heavier load of schoolwork and so must devote himself to that. We are grateful for their efforts here. They will be missed!
We are thrilled, however, that the Lord has provided someone to do these jobs in Karen Holcomb--our new Ministry Assistant. She is extremely gifted and a dedicated worker. Her devotion to the Lord, her family, and the church has been consistently lived out. I have been acquainted with the Holcomb family--Karen, husband Bron, and their two sons, Jackson and Caleb, for nearly twenty years. She served on our staff with distinction in my last pastorate for six years as Children's Minister. Karen knows the value of Associational work and will be a help to us here.
With Gratitude in Ministry Partnership,
Dennis Thurman, AMS
